I am looking at getting a new phone but I can not have the data plan on it but I also want a nice phone such as the droid or a blackberry. However, Verizon does not let you have these phones without having a data package to go along with it. Is it possible to have a nice phone and not have a data package with it??

Verizon Wireless, which has said it plans to move away from unlimited data plans for new subscribers, confirms that new tiered options will be the norm starting next month. Requirements: -An at&t SIM (not prepaid ones) -An online account -A “dumb”phone with internet capable, and -Of course, an iPhone. -Put your at&t sim in the “dumb”phone (you can buy an at&t GOPHONE if you don’t wanna borrow one from your friend). -Go to online your online account and activate the data plan(should be extra $10/mo or $15/mo). -Swap the sim to your iPhone and you should be good to go. This video is to show that if you have 3G Mobile Network and WIFI turned ON, WIFI takes over 3G data even though both are turned ON. 3G Mobile Network is ON so you can receive phone calls, text and emails but anything requiring data such as browser, iHeartRadio, Blackberry App World, etc, uses WIFI as primary connection and not 3G. When Mobile Network is turned OFF (no 3G) and WIFI is on, all phone calls go to voicemail and you will not receive SMS/MMS or emails but you can still receive BB messages, pretty much anything related to data.
AT&T iPhone loophole: unlimited data for some customers
